Coconut oil for weight loss

In one tablespoon of coconut oil, you get 13 grams of fat, 11 grams of which are saturated. These saturated fats in coconut oil are known as medium-chain triglycerides, or MCTs, and differ from most saturated and unsaturated fats in the American diet, which contain longer-chain fats.

MCT molecules are shorter in length, which makes them more easily absorbed and more efficiently processed by your body. The medium-chain triglycerides (or fatty acids) in coconut oil are more water soluble than other fats so they reach the liver faster and are broken down and converted into energy more rapidly. Not only do they convert into energy, but all this extra energy helps you burn off more fat, simply because you are more active! A study by the International Journal of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders found that medium-chain triglycerides increase fat burning and calorie expenditure while decreasing your stores of body fat.

How coconut oil helps you to lose your weight?

Coconut oil helps you feel full for longer because it helps you digest your food more slowly. So you may eat fewer calories later, according to a review of research on MCTs published in the Journal of Nutrition in 2002. Both animal and human studies linked coconut oil to increased satiation, at least for several hours following consumption. This means that if you consume a teaspoon or two of coconut oil as part of your breakfast, you may end up eating fewer calories at lunch.

Also coconut oil keeps you sugar levels balanced so you no longer have that “3 p.m. crash “when you energy drops and you crave a sugar rush to boost your energy up. Coconut oil prompts carbohydrates to convert more slowly into glucose after each meal. Your energy is released more consistently, so you stay active for longer periods of time, and there is less excess energy being converted into fat cells.

How can we use coconut oil for weight loss?

The simplest way to incorporate coconut oil into your diet plan is to stir 1-2 tablespoons of coconut oil into a mug of hot water twenty minutes before every meal. Allow the coconut oil to melt in the water, and then drink it down. Also, you could make a nutritious smoothie or even a meal with coconut oil as one of the ingredients! Alternatively, you can simply eat the coconut oil and let it liquefy in your mouth for a few seconds before swallowing.
